From 1st October 2026, we're introducing a change to how repeat prescriptions are requested and charged. Here's everything you need to know.
Requesting your repeat prescription
You can now request your repeat prescription using the form at manchestermenopausehive.co.uk/prescriptions. This ensures increased safety of prescribing and minimises any delays in clarifying details of requests.
In future, email requests for prescriptions will be redirected to the prescription form, so we'd encourage you to use the form directly going forward.
A small prescription fee from 1st October 2026
From 1st October 2026, we'll be introducing a small prescription fee of £33 per repeat prescription (not per item) for those requiring a repeat prescription outside of a new patient or follow-up consultation.
This will enable us to continue to offer the same high standard of care that we're known for. Our doctors review every prescription request personally and review the case notes to ensure that the treatment remains safe and within current guidelines (which are often changing). We've previously absorbed the cost of this ourselves, but due to the increasing insurance costs, we have needed to introduce a small charge to ensure we can maintain the high standards we pride ourselves on. **This charge does NOT apply to prescriptions issued within a new patient or follow up consultation** - this is included in your consultation fee
Key facts
- Fee: £33 per repeat prescription request (not per item)
- Starts: 1st October 2026
- Applies to: Repeat prescriptions requested outside of a new patient or follow-up consultation
- Doesn't apply to: Prescriptions issued as part of a new patient or follow-up appointment
We're giving advance notice to allow you the opportunity to plan ahead and request a repeat prescription before 1st October, should you wish to do so ahead of the change. In some instances, it may be appropriate for us to issue a longer prescription at your annual review appointment (up to 6 months supply at a time) if your reviews and any relevant blood tests are up to date and your clinician deems it safe and appropriate. Please let us know if you would like to request a longer prescription.
If you have any questions or just want to talk it through, please do get in touch — we're happy to help.
